Looking for a painter in East Van? We handle heritage homes, character houses, condos, rental turnovers, drywall repair, and full interior repaints throughout Commercial Drive, Hastings Sunrise, Renfrew, Grandview Woodland, and the surrounding East Vancouver neighbourhoods.
What we paint in East Van
East Vancouver is a real mix. Pre-war character houses on Victoria Drive, newer condos along Hastings, post-war bungalows in Renfrew, laneway homes tucked behind heritage lots. We paint all of it. Here’s the work we get called for the most.
Heritage House Painting East Vancouver
A lot of East Van houses are 80 to 100 years old. Old growth fir trim, plaster walls, original cedar siding. We prep these properly. Sand, scrape, fill, prime, then paint. We don’t slap latex over old oil without sealing it first, which is the main reason heritage paint jobs fail in this neighbourhood.
- Wood trim and crown moulding repaints
- Plaster wall patching and skim coating
- Old oil-based trim conversion to waterborne
- Sash window painting on character homes
Commercial Drive Condo Painting
Condo work along the Drive, around Trout Lake, and up toward Nanaimo Station is steady year round. Small units, big units, strata-approved colours. We move furniture, mask floors, do ceilings, walls, trim, and doors, and clean up after ourselves so you can sleep there the same night.
- One bedroom and studio repaints in 1 to 2 days
- Strata colour matching for hallways and common areas
- Pre-listing condo refreshes for realtors
- Move-in repaints for new owners
Hastings Sunrise Rental Turnovers
If you’ve got a rental on Hastings, Pender, or Triumph and a tenant is moving out, we can usually get in and out between leases. Quick patch and paint on suites, basement units, and upper floors. Walls back to white or whatever your turnover colour is, ready for the next tenant.
- Patch nail holes, dents, and tenant damage
- One coat or two coat options depending on wall condition
- Trim, doors, and door frames touched up
- Suite repaints scheduled around tenant move-out dates
Renfrew and Grandview Woodland Interior Repaints
Whole-house interior jobs in Renfrew, Grandview Woodland, and around Nanaimo and Rupert. Most of these are 1940s to 1970s homes with two or three bedrooms upstairs and a suite down. We handle the full house, including the basement suite, in one project so you only deal with one crew.
- Full interior repaints, every wall and ceiling
- Trim, baseboards, doors, and door frames
- Basement suite painting at the same time as the main floor
- Stairwells and high ceilings handled with proper scaffolding
Exterior House Painting and Cedar Siding
A lot of East Van homes have wood siding, cedar shingles, or stucco. We pressure wash, scrape any peeling spots, prime bare wood, and put on two coats of exterior acrylic. Best window for exterior is May through early October. We book this stuff out in advance so reach out early if you want it done in summer.
- Cedar siding and shingle painting
- Stucco repaints and crack repair
- Trim, soffits, fascia, and gutters
- Front and back doors, garage doors, fences
Drywall Repair, Patching, and Laneway Home Painting
Holes from old TV mounts, water damage patches, popcorn ceiling removal, drywall cracks above doorways. We do all the prep work in-house so you don’t need to hire a separate drywaller. We also paint a lot of laneway houses in East Van, both new builds and repaints.
- Drywall patching and texture matching
- Popcorn ceiling removal and reskim
- Water damage repair before painting
- Laneway house interior and exterior painting

Common questions from East Van homeowners
How much does it cost to paint a house in East Vancouver?
For a full interior repaint of an average East Van house, walls and ceilings only, you’re usually looking at $4,500 to $8,500 depending on size, prep, and how many colours. Full interior with trim, doors, and basement suite added is typically $7,500 to $14,000. We give you a fixed written quote after walking the house so there’s no guessing.
Do you paint heritage and character homes?
Yes, this is most of what we do. A lot of East Van homes are pre-1940 with old growth wood trim, plaster walls, and original siding. We prep these properly instead of just rolling over them. That includes sealing old oil-based paint before applying waterborne, patching plaster, and stripping where it’s needed.
Can you do a rental turnover between tenants?
Yep, this is a regular request. If you’ve got a 5 to 7 day window between leases, we can usually fit a one-bed or two-bed unit in there. Suites, basement units, and full upper floors. Patch, paint, clean up. Ready for the next tenant.
How long does an interior repaint take in East Vancouver?
One bedroom condo, 1 to 2 days. Two or three bedroom house, 3 to 5 days. Full house with trim, doors, and a basement suite, usually 5 to 8 days. We give you a real schedule before we start.
Do you paint laneway houses?
Yes. East Van has a lot of laneway homes now. We do new build paint outs for builders, and repaints for owners renting them out. Both interior and exterior.
What about exterior painting on cedar siding?
Cedar siding needs to be pressure washed, scraped where it’s flaking, primed on bare spots, then two coats of exterior acrylic. We book exterior jobs from May through October. If you wait until September we usually can’t fit you in until next year, so reach out early.
Do you serve all of East Van or just certain pockets?
All of it. From Clark Drive to Boundary, from the Burrard Inlet down to Marine Drive. Commercial Drive, Hastings Sunrise, Renfrew, Grandview, Strathcona, Killarney, Victoria-Fraserview, Collingwood. If you’re east of Main Street, we cover you.
Are you actually based in East Vancouver?
Yes. Our address is 3043 Kitchener Street, right between Commercial Drive and Renfrew. We’re not driving in from the suburbs, we live and work here.
