Metal Painting Vancouver

Metal Needs a Different System

Metal is not drywall. Paint a railing or gate with ordinary wall paint and it peels and rusts within a season – especially here, where 1,100 to 1,800mm of annual rain finds every chip. Metal needs the right prep: rust removal, a dedicated metal or rust-inhibitive primer, and a coating made to flex and bond to steel, iron or aluminum.

We sand or wire-wheel back to sound metal, treat any rust, prime correctly, and topcoat with a finish rated for exterior metal so it holds up to weather and handling.

Metal We Paint

Railings & Handrails

Interior and exterior steel and aluminum railings, rust-treated and finished smooth.

Gates & Fencing

Wrought-iron and metal gates and fences refinished to resist rust and look sharp.

Exterior Doors & Frames

Metal entry doors and frames sprayed for an even, factory-grade finish.

Trim, Flashing & Downpipes

Metal trim, flashing and downpipes painted to match or refresh the exterior.

Garage & Shop Metal

Posts, beams and shop metal coated for durability in damp spaces.

Rust Treatment

We treat existing rust and prime with inhibitors so it does not bleed back through.

Why Picasshome

Built for the Vancouver Climate

The reason metal jobs fail here is moisture getting under a coating that was never built to bond to metal. We use the correct primers and coatings and prep back to sound substrate, so the finish lasts rather than flaking off the next wet winter.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does paint peel off my railing? +
Almost always because wall paint or a missed primer step was used on metal. Metal needs rust removal and a dedicated metal primer before topcoat – otherwise moisture lifts it.
Can you treat rust before painting? +
Yes. We sand or wire-wheel back to sound metal, treat the rust, and use a rust-inhibitive primer so it does not bleed back through the new finish.
Do you paint aluminum and galvanized metal too? +
Yes – those need specific etching or bonding primers because paint will not stick to them otherwise. We use the right system for each metal.
Will the finish survive Vancouver winters? +
Yes, when prepped and coated correctly with exterior-rated products. That is the whole point of doing metal properly instead of with leftover wall paint.
