Yaletown is old brick warehouses turned into lofts, with glass towers toward False Creek. A loft and a tower suite need different handling, and we paint both.

Painting Yaletown Lofts and Towers

Yaletown grew out of railway yards after bridges crossed False Creek in 1889. It is named for Yale, BC, where many Canadian Pacific Railway workers came from. After Expo 86 the old warehouses were converted to loft apartments and offices, and glass and concrete towers filled the land toward the water.

Hamilton and Mainland Streets are the core, with cobblestone sidewalks out front. A loft-style unit in one of the old warehouses is a different job from a suite in the glass towers, and we treat it that way.

We do interior painting, strata work and commercial painting in Yaletown. Next door we also paint the rest of Downtown.

What We Find Here

What a Yaletown Loft Needs

Original brick should stay the colour it is. We paint around it and never over it, unless someone painted it long before you moved in.

  • High ceilings. If your loft ceiling is tall, it takes taller ladders or a small scaffold and more time to cut in cleanly.
  • Brick next to drywall.Where new drywall meets original brick or a beam, every edge gets masked and cut by hand.
  • Strong daylight.Big windows show every roller mark. We back-roll and check each wall in the light it actually gets.
  • Tower suites by the water. The high-rises toward False Creek come with strata rules, elevator bookings and quiet hours, which we plan around.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Will you paint over exposed brick? +
Not original brick. We mask it and paint around it. If it was already painted, we can repaint it.
Can you reach loft ceilings? +
Yes. Tall ceilings take taller ladders or a small scaffold, and we plan for that in the quote.
Do you work in the towers along False Creek? +
Yes. We follow the strata rules, book elevator time and protect the halls we use.
How do you keep the finish even in a bright loft? +
We back-roll and check each wall in its own daylight before we call it done.
Do you paint offices in the converted buildings? +
Yes. See commercial painting. We work seven days, so weekends are an option.
What does a Yaletown job cost? +
It depends on ceiling height, hand cutting and access. We quote after a look, for free.
Is Yaletown part of your Downtown area? +
Yes. Yaletown sits inside Downtown. Our Downtown page covers the rest of the peninsula.
Do you clean up after? +
Yes. Floors are covered during the work, and we clean up at the end of the job.
